New book published

Written by John Shears, Leader of the Endurance22 expedition and Nico Vincent, the Sub-Sea Manager: “ENDURANCE: The Discovery of Shackleton’s Legendary Ship” is described as a coffee table companion to the recently released National Geographic TV and cinema documentary.

Shears and Vincent give their version of the 35-day hunt for the iconic vessel that sank in the Weddell Sea in 1915. The book, which has 256 pages and more than 100 images, contains the first digital images of the wreck and has a forward by HRH The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, and a Preface by the former FMHT Chairman, Donald Lamont. It is published by National Geographic Documentary Films.

It is the second book to be published with the Trust’s blessing. The first was written by FMHT Trustee and expedition Director of Exploration, Mensun Bound. It came out in October 2023 and was called “THE SHIP BENEATH THE ICE: The Discovery of Shackleton’s Endurance”.  It became a best seller and is now in its 10th edition.
