In Mar 1832 the POTOSI from Sag Harbour, New York, USA, Captain Charles C. Griffin, was wrecked at Johnson’s Harbour. The U.S. Nautical Magazine reports: “The wreck of the American ship POTOSI was observed near a point of land at the entrance to Johnson’s Harbour, where she had been driven from her anchors in a strong southerly gale.”
