The fully-rigged Hamburger, HORATIO, captained by H. A. Hölm, was forty days out of Valparaiso in Chile, bound for Swansea in Wales, with 13 crew and a cargo of copper ore when she was wrecked on Bull Point, the most southerly tip of East Falkland on or about the 19th June 1860. The Captain, First Mate, and six other men were drowned. Some of the cargo of copper ore was recovered and brought into Stanley on the local sealing Schooners MALVINA and VICTOR, which also brought a badly injured Second Mate for treatment. A weather-ravaged figurehead from the HORATIO is on display at the Falklands North Arm Museum in East Falkland. In 1949, a skeleton was found poking out of the peat at Bull Point.
