The English-owned brigantine was lost in the Falklands sometime before 17th October 1854. No details of how she came to be wrecked on the uninhabited Governor Island, which is part of the Beaver islands group of West Falkland, have been found but it is known that her Master, Captain Bennison and his entire crew arrived in Stanley on the 17th October aboard the American Schooner TEKOA. It is also reported that the “valuable” cargo carried by the GLAUCUS was salvaged and arrived in Stanley between November 1854 and August 1855, carried by two local vessels: the ketch PERSEVERENCE, under Captain Brown, and the schooner FANNY, with Captain Garret. Apart from that, we know nothing else.
